Ripley's Museum $1 Million Dollar Renovation Completed!

Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum on Clifton Hill has unveiled its spectacular
$1 million façade renovation. The one-of-a-kind museum has also opened a new,
interactive 1,500 square foot exhibit, and a new lobby with amazing world-class
displays. Ripley’s Niagara Falls will now offer more than 10,000 square-feet of
unusual exhibits, interactive fun and entertainment for the entire family.
The new exterior is a one-of-a-kind façade that captures the look of “The Ripley’s
Towers” toppling over onto its side. It features; a doorman clinging to the entrance
of the Ripley’s Tower as it topples, a real life-sized taxicab about to get smashed,
an automated window washer hanging on for dear life, and at the very top of the
tower, you’ll find a huge gorilla grasping for a helicopter with rotating blades.
One of the most unique exhibits in the newly renovated 1,000 square foot lobby
is the world’s largest beer stein, standing 10 feet tall, and weighing 1,000 pounds.
It was the prize piece in Robert Ripley’s personal collection of 500 steins and
dates back to the 1920’s. Sharing the new lobby space is a skeleton of a 21-foot
stegosaurus. The armored dinosaur of the Jurassic period was found in China in
the early 1990’s. The stegosaurus had two brains, one in its tail, and one in
its head. In addition to serving as a means of protection, paleontologists today
believe the armored plates of the stegosaurus served as a natural radiator to
dissipate body heat.
“We continue to be proud to provide Niagara Falls’ visitors from Canada and around
the world a first-class museum attraction that provides a unique mix of unusual
and sometimes weird entertainment and education,” said Tim Parker, General Manager
of Ripley’s Niagara. He also noted that the new exterior fits the unique design
of other Ripley Museums around the world.

Maid of The Mist
The Maid of the Mist Plaza is located at the bottom of Clifton Hill, just two
blocks from the Clifton Hill Resorts. This popular Niagara Falls attraction may
open in April, depending on the ice conditions in the river.
